Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 6, 2026

This policy explains what Falas collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Falas is operated by Unifiltered LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, which is the controller of your personal data. Falas is an AI interview-practice service; by its nature it processes recordings of your practice sessions. We try to be unusually plain about what that means.

1. What we collect

  • Account information — email address and name, if you create an account. Much of Falas works without an account via access codes or assignment links. If you join a beta by entering your email instead of a code, we store that email so we can reach you about the beta.
  • Profile material you choose to add — for example resume text used to personalize interviews and feedback.
  • Practice session content — your microphone audio, your camera video when you enable it, transcripts of what you said, and your typed inputs.
  • Derived analytics — transcripts, speech metrics (pace, pauses, filler words), content scores and written feedback, and — where enabled — camera-based delivery estimates. In EU education deployments Falas runs a behavioral-metrics mode: no emotion or affect inference is captured or displayed, and analysis is limited to observable mechanics and content.
  • School association — if you enter through a school access code, invite, or assignment link, we associate your practice with that institution for reporting.
  • Usage and device data — pages visited, features used, approximate region, and technical logs.

On-device storage. A meaningful part of your data — practice history, results, resume profile, and demo tokens — is stored locally in your browser and stays on your device unless you sign in, in which case sessions sync to your account.

2. How we use it

  • To run your interviews and generate your transcripts, scores, and reports.
  • To personalize sessions (for example, using your resume so follow-ups reference your actual experience).
  • To provide institutional reporting where you use Falas through a school (see section 5).
  • To operate, secure, and improve the Service, using de-identified or aggregated data where feasible.
  • To communicate with you about the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your recordings for advertising.

3. AI processing and service providers

Falas is built on specialized providers that process your data on our behalf to deliver the Service: speech-to-text transcription, AI models that grade content and generate feedback, real-time avatar video streaming, optional delivery analysis, and cloud hosting and database infrastructure. These providers are bound to process your data only to provide their service to us. Your session content is sent to them as needed to run your interview and produce your report.

4. Biometric and camera-based data (U.S.)

Where you enable your camera, Falas may analyze your video to estimate delivery (such as eye contact, movement, or engagement). To the extent any such analysis constitutes a biometric identifier or biometric information under laws like the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), we will: (a) provide notice and obtain your written consent before capture; (b) use it only to generate your practice feedback; (c) never sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from it; and (d) retain it only as long as needed to produce your report, and destroy it no later than 30 days after your session or within three years of your last interaction with us, whichever is earlier. You may decline camera analysis and still use Falas in audio-only or behavioral-metrics mode.

5. Sharing with your institution

If you use Falas through your school or university, that institution may see reporting about your use — such as attempts, practice minutes, and scores — under its agreement with us. If you use Falas independently (your own account or a personal code), your results are yours alone.

6. Other sharing

We share data with the service providers above; when required by law or to protect the Service and its users; and as part of a corporate transaction (such as a financing or acquisition), in which case this policy continues to apply to previously collected data.

7. Retention

Data stored in your browser remains until you clear it. Account data and synced sessions are retained while your account is active and deleted or de-identified within a reasonable period after deletion requests, except where retention is required by law. Session recordings are processed to produce your report and are not kept longer than needed for that purpose and for service integrity.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, your consent (for camera capture and similar features), and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service; you also have the right to complain to your supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below — we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

9. U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on your state (for example California), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use your recordings for advertising. To exercise a right, contact us at the address below; you may use an authorized agent where the law permits.

10. Students and minors

Falas is intended for users 16 and older and is not directed to children under 13. Institutional deployments may involve additional student-privacy commitments agreed with the institution. For U.S. institutional deployments, where we handle student education records on behalf of a school we act as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA and use those records only to provide the Service. Additional commitments (for example under New York Education Law §2-d or state student-privacy laws) are set out in our agreement with the institution.

11. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, access-controlled infrastructure, and least-privilege service keys. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

12. International transfers

We are based in the United States and process data there and in the countries where our providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

13. Changes

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above reflects the current version, and material changes will be communicated through the Service.
